Polytetraflouroethylene (TFE) and Kynar are both on allocation.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene products, PTFE (TFE) and Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide requirement for this mineral has increased significantly, and also the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is used within tons of applications from non-stick fry pots and pans to ptfe tape for personal use. This specific mineral is actually the essential raw materials within the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This escalating demand coupled with general shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double within the past year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to keep at it in the near future.
