Discover Magical Madrid in 3 Days

This AvidTravellers Madrid trip is packed with personal remarks and great experiences. Here is a overview of a few of the trips sprcial moments:

Let's start with a bit of history: Madrid has been the capital of Spain since mid-sixteenth century, when Philip II transferred the capital from Toledo. it was moved to Valladolid for a few years at the start of 1601.

Late in 2024 a fast 72-hour trip to Madrid with pals was the best reason to look into the city's rich heritage. Our hotel, situated in the heart of the city on Cal base to discover Madrid's iconic landmarks and savour its gastronomic delights. As we wandered through the city's vibrant plazas, we absorbed the transmittable energy and historical significance that surrounded us.

Our group's diverse preferences led to numerous activities. Suzanne and Richard began the firstday 1 evening with an unforgettable dinner at Bodega de los Secretos, a relaxing, centuries-old dining establishment filled with appeal. The following my wife and I joined a tapas and red wine walking tour led by the passionate Mario. We went to numerous local hotspots. I was faScinated by the Meson de Champinon, a bar-restaurant which serverd mushrooms and only mushrooms.

The last day was everything about cooking, with Pamela and Bill organizing a paella masterclass at the elegant Ritz Mandarin Oriental. Chef Oliver Menendez directed us through the intricacies of making standard Valencian paella and black rice with squid and lobster. The experience was coupled with tastings of local sherries and red wines, making it one of the journey's highlights.

We rounded off the weekend with a check out to Teatro Flamenco Madrid. This intimate location showcased the raw feeling and beauty of flamenco dancing, providing a best cultural capstone.

Throughout the trip, we enjoyed memorable meals at regional dining establishments like Casa Verona and Casa Alberto, where we enjoyed genuine Spanish meals such as anchovies in olive oil, croquettes, and even the famed calamari sandwich. The Mercado de San Miguel was another standout, offering a peek into Spain's abundant culinary traditions.
